Just recently, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety released its initial list of 2017 vehicles that have earned the organization’s Top Safety Pick+ and Top Safety Pick ratings. While we expect the list to grow as the IIHS continues to test new 2017 models in the future, we’re thrilled to tell you that two Audi automobiles earned the top mark of Top Safety Pick+, the 2017 Audi A4 and the 2017 Audi Q5.
If you’re interested in another 2017 Audi vehicle, we’re happy to tell you that three other Audi models were recognized for safety with the IIHS’s Top Safety Pick designation, the 2017 Audi A3, the 2017 Audi A6, and the 2017 Audi Q7. The Top Safety Pick rating is the second highest designation the IIHS gives to vehicles. To earn this rating, a vehicle must receive a score of good in five crash-worthiness tests and it must get a mark of either advanced or superior for its frontal crash prevention system.
To receive the Top Safety Pick+ rating, an automobile must satisfy the same criteria that cars which earn the Top Safety Pick designation do. In addition, cars that earn the Top Safety Pick+ rating must get a mark of acceptable or good for their headlights. The requirement that a car’s headlights have to receive a high mark for their test performance is new for the 2017 model year, making it even more challenging for vehicles to earn the 2017 Top Safety Pick+ rating.
