The 2014 Audi A8 and the 2014 BMW 740 are both luxurious sedans that will appeal to a wide variety of demographics. Each has ample space, comfortable seating and an array of high tech bells and whistles. When pitted side by side, the Audi A8 comes out on top for a variety of reasons. Power
The Audi A8 has more horsepower than the BMW 740. The Audi A8 comes in at 333 horsepower compared to the 315 horsepower provided by the BMW 740. Each sedan has a 3.0 liter engine with six cylinders. Both are equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission, yet the Audi A8 provides drivers with the power and traction of all-wheel drive. The same can’t be said of the BMW 740 which has rear-wheel drive. The two sedans have nearly exactly the same fuel economy as well. The Audi A8 achieves 18 miles per gallon in urban spaces and 28 miles per gallon on highways, while the BMW 740 comes in at 19 miles per gallon on city roads and 29 miles per gallon on highways.

Safety Features
While both vehicles have four doors and seat five, the Audi protects its occupants much better. The BMW 740 comes with cruise control, automatic climate control, leather upholstery, an auto-dimming rear view mirror, heated power front seats, a wide screen display, Bluetooth connectivity, a 12-speaker audio system, satellite/HD radio and navigation. Other options are available with higher level trims at an extra cost.
