Will the Audi S3 Cabriolet Make it to America?

On a clear day with the sun hovering above the blue skies, there is nothing like dropping the top on a convertible sports car. Endowed with a dynamic engine and a nimble chassis, the Audi S3 Cabriolet is prepared to deliver one of the most invigorating open-air driving experiences on the planet. All-wheel drive is a standard feature, so S3 Cabriolet drivers can expect the optimum amount of on-road traction. Unlike some of the other high-powered convertibles on the market, the S3 Cabriolet will provide great fuel efficiency. Its head-turning styling promises to attract plenty of attention while cruising down the highway.

Engine & Transmission
Under the hood of the Audi S3 Cabriolet sits a praise-worthy 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Audiengineers have specially tuned the racy engine to produce 300 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. Due to the S3 Cabriolet’s tremendous amount of torque, it will deliver quick and effortless acceleration. The car has yet to be officially tested, though Audi estimates that the S3 Cabriolet should reach 60 mph in just over five seconds. The fuel economy rating stands at an efficient 33 mpg on the highway.

The European version of the Audi S3 Cabriolet will come with a dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Although Audi has yet to release an official statement about the proposed American version, Car and Driver expects the American-spec S3 Cabriolet to be fitted with a six-speed manual transmission. With either transmission, the S3 Cabriolet vows to deliver a very lively driving experience.

Platform
As expected, the Audi S3 Cabriolet will come with one of the top all-wheel drive systems in the industry. The Quattro all-wheel drive system and the multi-link rear axle will help to keep the S3 Cabriolet well-planted in all driving situations. Although most owners will be satisfied with the standard suspension setup, drivers who crave a superior road handling ability should opt for the adaptive dampers. While the base trim comes with 18-inch wheels, prospective buyers can upgrade to sportier 19-inch wheels. The electric steering is also designed to give the driver ideal feedback.

Interior
The interior is engineered to provide the ultimate level of comfort and convenience. By simply touching a button, the convertible top will fold down in less than 20 seconds. The flat-bottomed steering wheel and race-inspired pedals match with the S3 Cabriolet’s sporty character on the road. The plush seating will come in handy when taking out-of-town trips. Surprisingly, the Audi S3 Cabriolet will also offer a relatively spacious trunk area.

Release Date
As of yet, it has not been confirmed whether or not the Audi S3 Cabriolet will actually be released in America. However, some enthusiastic buyers are already prepared to pre-order an Audi S3 Cabriolet.
